A Collection of six one-acts

All in the Timing

I worked as Head of Lighting with two assistant designers on All in the Timing. This show proved to be a fun challenge from a lighting perspective as the show is made up of six one-acts, all of which require their own tone and setting. Each story housed a different absurdist premise and thus allowed for abstract lighting choices. I often chose to highlight the emotions of the scene rather than the specific setting of each act as the show as a whole consists of short, punchy jokes which act as ideal set ups for sharp, fast-paced cues. The final rendition of the show included over 350 lighting cues with All in the Timing’s own musical-esque number (Phillip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread) marking the climax of the show’s chaos (example clip and script excerpt below)
